These pages are dedicated to women’s memories of resistance to war and nationalisms in the countries of former Yugoslavia, but also to the activities of all women in the world who, in the context of transitional processes, raise their voice against war violence and discrimination.
“Feminists spoke about crimes against women as examples of “common” rape. Rape is a crime, but in this case it is not ethnically neutral, therefore it is not a “common” rape. Here it was about the abused women being Croatian or Muslim, and the crime against them was committed as part of the Serbian genocide against Croatian and Muslim people as an assault on women of that ethnicity (...) To conceal the character of that crime would represent the politicization of that crime against women. When Zagreb and Belgrade feminists claim that all the women were abused, they have either been tricked or are being manipulative.”
